ABC is conducting a social experiment gauging the reactions of the general public to displays of affection between members of the same sex.
An actor inside an RV parked in the area confirmed a witness account of ABC's week-long project. According to a police officer, "three or four" had complained about men kissing in public, but nothing illegal is going on. The actor told Fox6 that "Yes, we are working for ABC News."
ABC has been known in the past for controversy surrounding homosexuality. Earlier this year, Grey's Anatomy's Isaiah Washington came under fire when it was discovered he had used the word "faggot" during a heated exchange with co-star T.R. Knight.
Earlier this year, Media Matters, a media watchdog group, highlighted the controversy around a haircut obtained by candidate John Edwards as it was presented on the ABC News Blog: "The hair cut revelation did little to minimize what some call Edwards' 'Breck Girl' image."
