Actor Scott Caan apologizes for use of anti-gay slur

by Bryan Ochalla

Actor Scott Caan says he's sorry for using an anti-gay slur yesterday during an exchange with paparazzi that was caught on video.

According to various reports, the co-star of the Ocean's Eleven franchise got into an argument with photographers as he left a Los Angeles restaurant yesterday.

After telling the photographers he'd give them money to fight him, Caan got into his car to leave and shouted, "Get a real job, you f**t."

Caan's outburst quickly caught the attention of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), which called on the actor to apologize for his use of the anti-gay slur.

"While Caan's anger at being harassed is understandable, responding with that kind of vulgar, anti-gay slur is simply unacceptable," GLAAD President Neil G. Giuliano said in a release. "We've reached out to Caan's representatives and called on him to apologize for his defamatory, dehumanizing remark."

That's just what the actor did later the same day. "I am sorry for using such a derogatory word," Caan said in a statement released through his publicist Meredith O'Sullivan.

"I was being harassed by a paparazzi and, unfortunately, the word slipped out," he added. "I don't ever condone the use of that word and I deeply apologize to anyone whom I may have offended."
