In 1996 Scorsone was elected to the state Senate, a post he has held since. The popular politician was reelected in 2000 and 2004 without opposition and was on his way to and expected fourth term when the governor made the appointment. For more information:
Senator Ernesto Scorsone (D-Lexington) of the Kentucky state Senate has been picked by Gov. Ernie Beshear (D) to fill a vacancy on the Fayette County, Kentucky circuit court. The post is in effect until November 4, when Scorsone must win an election to fill the seat. Scorsone has no opposition in the race.
