Ralls to step down from SLDN, accepts post with PFLAG

by PageOneQ

Steve Ralls, communications director of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, is leaving his post after eight and a half years to take over communications for the national office of PFLAG, Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays. PFLAG is a nationwide network of chapter support groups for parents and friends close to a member of the LGBT community.

In an interview with PageOneQ, Ralls said he was honored to be joining the PFLAG team. "For decades, PFLAG has brought together a powerful coalition of parents, family members and other allies in a national movement to foster respect, dignity and equality for every member of the American family."

Speaking of PFLAG's members across the country, Ralls said members are "full of stories that inspire hearts and facilitate change. There are few voices more resonate, or more meaningful, than those of our families and friends."

In addition to serving over 500 chapters nationwide, PFLAG operates an Education program and advocates on a number of issues, including marriage equality, lifting of Don't Ask, Don't Tell and ending workplace discrimination.

Ralls said he was looking forward to working with PFLAG’s team to "continue and build upon their incredible track record of providing support, education and advocacy to our community. This is an opportunity I simply could not pass up."
