Nick Cargo The organization behind the campaign, HOMOtracker, consists of 50 gay and lesbian professionals in the entertainment industry, including studio representatives, writers and directors. Modeled on Apple's "Mac vs. PC" commercials, two men representing "Yes" and "No" address the "protection" of heterosexual couples, the "Yes" character's unwanted advances on the California constitution and his car salesman-like posturing in favor of "tradition." "I eliminate rights," "Yes" says in one spot, "but only for certain people, so it's cool." In another, "Yes" makes a pass at, and is harshly rebuffed by, the California Constitution. "Yes" also finds his services unwanted when standing guard to "protect" a straight couple. The four spots, posted to YouTube, are embedded below:
A new video ad campaign has been launched against California's proposed same-sex marriage ban on November's ballot, Proposition 8, which would constitutionally ban same-sex marriages by overturning the state Supreme Court's May affirmation of the equal right to marry.
